What are the Digital Responsibility Goals?
The Digital Responsibility Goals promote responsible and sustainable digitization. The DRGs provide a value framework to mobilise companies and organisations to invest in digital trust in a continuous and scalable way while making their business interests sustainable and responsible. With the DRGs, metrics are derived to measure the trustworthiness status of digital products as well as companies and organizations. In this way, digital abstractions are broken down to an understandable level so that everyone has enough comprehension to finally make informed decisions.
What are the Guiding Criteria of the Digital Responsibility Goals?
Each DRG is based on five guiding criteria, which describe the conditions that must be met in order to achieve the respective sustainable development goal and thus be classified as digitally trustworthy.
What is the Digital Responsibility Index?
The Digital Responsibility Index reflects the degree to which a guiding criterion is met in terms of its trustworthiness. In other words, it measures the extent to which a particular technology, digital product or institution fulfills the guiding criteria.
Each guiding criterion is measured on the basis of questions or tasks to be fulfilled. Different guiding criteria are prioritized. This means that there are criteria that are highly relevant and must therefore be fulfilled by default in order to be classified as trustworthy. There are also guiding criteria that are not unimportant, but have a lower priority. If these are fulfilled, the evaluation of a DRG can rise up to the optimum (i.e. full score). Thus, the better a rating, the more points are awarded, the higher the fill level of a DRG.
Are the Digital Responsibility Goals based on a certificate?
In principle, the DRGs offer a measurable value framework that brings together all the certificates already available in the context of digitization under one roof and thus aims to give users a comprehensible overview of whether and to what extent a digital technology is trustworthy.

6. Differential Privacy: This approach adds carefully calibrated noise to the data to ensure that the statistical analysis of the dataset remains accurate while providing a strong guarantee of privacy.

How can data be handled data in a fair way?
In a process called machine learning, algorithms are "fed" with data. While humans learn through stimuli such as sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch, the algorithm evolves through data. So data is to machines what experience is to humans. The development of AI depends on the data that humans provide to it. That means the better and more accurate the data, the fewer errors are in the AI and make it correspondingly more reliable.
Can artificial intelligence really be "intelligent"?
Artificial intelligence is neither particularly intelligent nor clever or virtuous. But it is very powerful and efficient. An AI does not act morally, it does not discriminate, and it has no moral intentions of its own. Rather, it depends on how we humans have constructed and trained it.
It is therefore a technical artifact, makes mistakes, and does not reflect on its practice, so we humans are responsible for its design and use.

Many platforms offer to customize data sharing preferences or opt-out of certain data collection practices. Therefore, the product's settings and privacy controls should be checked.
Often external reviews and reports provide insights into the product/company's data privacy practices.
Some companies publish transparency reports that disclose data requests from government agencies and how they handle user data in such situations.

How is it ensured that behind every technical solution there is ultimately a human being who decides and not a machine?
The initial design and development of technical solutions must be guided and overseen by human designers and engineers. In the process, testing, monitoring, and verification must be performed to minimize errors and biases that could arise in the technology. In the following, a regular evaluation and review of the performance of the technology and its ethical implications must take place. This review must be conducted not only by internal employees but also by independent experts.
Ethical guidelines that emphasize human values, safety and well-being must be an integral part of the design process and reviewed at every stage of development.
Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) Approach – This means that human oversight and intervention are integrated into automated systems. While machines and algorithms might handle routine tasks, there should always be human experts available to supervise, validate, and intervene when necessary.
Legal and regulatory frameworks play an important role in ensuring human control over technical solutions. Appropriate laws and guidelines can prescribe a certain level of human oversight and establish accountability in the event of adverse consequences.
In the case of using AI and machine learning algorithms, it's important to focus on Explainable AI. This means that AI systems should be designed in a way that their decisions and reasoning can be understood and traced back by human experts.
Organizations developing technical solutions must be transparent about the capabilities and limitations of their technologies. They should also take responsibility for the impact their solutions may have on society and the environment.
