The DRGs provide a value framework to mobilise companies and organisations to invest in digital trust in a continuous and scalable way while making their business interests sustainable and responsible. With the DRGs, metrics are derived to measure the trustworthiness of digital products as well as companies and organisations. In this way, the complexity of the digital world can be broken down to an understandable level so that everyone can make informed decisions.

Each DRG is based on five guiding criteria, which describe the conditions that must be met in order to achieve the respective goal and thus be classified as digitally trustworthy.

The Digital Responsibility Index (DRI) reflects the degree to which a guiding criterion is met in terms of its trustworthiness. In other words, it measures the extent to which a particular technology, digital product or institution fulfills the guiding criteria.

In the following, a regular evaluation and review of the performance of the technology and its ethical implications must take place. This review must be conducted not only by internal employees but also by independent experts.

Ethical guidelines that emphasize human values, safety and well-being must be an integral part of the design process and reviewed at every stage of development.

Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) Approach – This means that human oversight and intervention are integrated into automated systems. While machines and algorithms might handle routine tasks, there should always be human experts available to supervise, validate, and intervene when necessary.
